Dubai has banned issuing licenses to companies that issue or maintain anonymity-oriented tokens (such as Zcash or Monero). Such a rule was published by the local regulator VADA.

Dubai regards anonymous cryptocurrencies as "a type of virtual asset that interferes with the traceability of transactions or ownership records through distributed public registries.
