Increased tensions between China and the U.S. could lead to the delisting of Chinese companies from U.S. exchanges
As recently as last year, U.S. regulators requested access to audit reports from Chinese companies. They wanted to conduct their own analysis of companies from the Middle Kingdom. After the Taiwan crisis, the dissatisfaction of U.S. regulators increased.
China, on the other hand, is not willing to allow foreign auditors to access the accounts of local companies. So, if you buy shares of Chinese companies on the U.S. exchange, do not forget about the delisting risks. They have increased today.
