Poland intends to withdraw its objection to the directive that the EU wants to use to implement a global minimum corporate tax. This raises hopes for adoption of the measure in all 27 EU member states.

Unless other member states raise objections, the move will clear the way for an agreement between the 27 capitals, at a meeting in Luxembourg on Friday.

Poland's decision to lift its veto will mean a leap forward for the EU in introducing a new 15 percent minimum effective corporate tax rate for large companies.
