The American concern Amazon will hold a record staff reduction. The company is preparing to lay off 18 thousand employees.
The dismissal of employees was announced by Amazon CEO Andy Jesse on Thursday, January 5. He said that the company is taking this step because of the uncertainty in the economy and in connection with the active recruitment of employees over the past two years.
It is noted that the departure of 18 thousand people will be the largest single reduction in the history of Amazon. Personnel cuts will mainly affect the sales and recruitment departments.
Amazon has significantly increased the number of staff during the coronavirus pandemic, when online trading volumes increased sharply. In the first quarter of 2022, the company employed 1.62 million people worldwide.
