Unemployment in Russia may reach 8%: forecast worsens - Kommersant

By the end of the year, the number of jobs may decrease by 2 million, causing the unemployment rate to rise from 4.4% to 7.8%, says ANCOR Vice President for Operations Management Mironov.

The reasons are the same: the departure of foreign companies. The expert predicts two outcomes: the recovery of demand in a year because of bad demographics, or the establishment of this level for several years due to changes in the structure of the market.

Those in the automobile business, household appliances, metallurgy, fertilizers, and construction are at the greatest risk. A positive scenario, however, is for IT, textiles and media.
