Former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, has issued an apology and taken full responsibility for "wrong decisions" related to his management of the company. In the letter, CZ expresses his regret over the lack of adequate control over compliance at Binance, stating that there is "no excuse" for his failure to establish necessary oversight. He emphasized that his interaction with the criminal justice system would be a one-time occurrence, underlining his hope to move past this chapter.
Beyond his apology and acceptance of responsibility, CZ shared his future aspirations, which include supporting biotechnological startups and youth initiatives. The legal documents also reveal that Zhao's friends, family, and colleagues have rallied in his support, sending 161 letters to the judge pleading for leniency.
